Health guarantee contract
Every puppy leaves here wormed, with their first vaccinations and a fecal test done, and with this contract. It's the whole thing, word for word — I'd far rather you read it now, before you fall in love with a puppy, than discover something in it later.
This contract is between Big Sky Yorkies / Jan Hefner, referred to as the seller, and the buyer named on the signed copy.
Payment
Non-refundable holding fee has been paid. Balance due at eight weeks of age, or at pick up in Cash or Cashier's check only. If paying with cashier's check please make out to Jan Hefner.
Puppies range in price from $2,500–$4,500 depending on size, colour and sex.
The terms
- 1
Sold as pet quality
All puppies are sold as pet quality and are sold to pet only home with no breeding rights. Breeding rights are offered at a substantially higher cost to approved breeders. No guarantee will be made as to size, disposition, conformation or breeding capability.
- 2
Worming and vaccinations
The puppy has been wormed prior to sale and has had its first vaccinations for Bordetella, parvovirus, distemper, adenovirus, and parainfluenza. Records of vaccinations will be sent with each puppy. Puppy has also had a fecal test. You will need to set up an appointment with your veterinarian for second shots, rabies, etc. in the weeks/months after taking the puppy home. Please discuss this when you take pup in for initial exam.
- 3
Your veterinary exam within 5 days
The buyer is to arrange a puppy check up by a qualified veterinarian within 5 days of receiving the puppy (not including Sunday's). During this exam the vet should make sure the puppy is in good health and do a fecal test. Should the veterinarian detect any communicable disease or life-threatening genetic defect at this initial exam, you must return this puppy to Big Sky Yorkies within 2 days of the exam with the veterinarian report and diagnosis. The buyer is responsible for returning the puppy and all papers to Big Sky Yorkies in Billings, Montana.
- 4
One-year congenital defect guarantee
If your puppy is diagnosed with a life-threatening congenital defect making him/her unsuitable as a pet before one year from the date of birth, it will be replaced with another puppy. If your puppy is found to have a life-threatening defect you must notify us immediately and supply us, within two days of diagnosis, with your veterinarian's written report. We reserve the right to have the diagnosis verified by another veterinarian of our choice and/or require the buyer to have specific test run on the pup to verify diagnosis before exchange. When the puppy is replaced, it will be replaced with one of equal value as soon as available, after the original puppy and all papers have been returned to the breeder in Billings, Montana. Buyer is responsible for all transportation of the original puppy and the replacement puppy. Puppy must not be euthanized without prior written approval from the breeder or the guarantee is void. Buyer understands that the following slight defects are not considered life threatening and therefore are not covered: internal or external parasites, hernia, in-descended testicles, under or overbite, ears not standing up, retained teeth or, injury, kennel cough, allergies, tracheal collapse, heat exhaustion, eye color or hypoglycemia.
